Project 4 Nubbin' - Spike or Root?
 What do you think?
If I were to get a spike where could I expect it to appear? Above or below the leaves?

Hi Gwen
I'm not sure but that looks like a root to me by the coloring. Let's see what the others have to say

I think it is a root as well. I have a root that is forming on mine in a similar area to where yours is forming....it is also the same color and thickness. The spike on my plant I will have to look at when I get home to see exactly where it is coming from on the orchid. But it is not as bright of a green and is mush skinnier looking. Take a look at my photo's I posted under our project album and maybe that will help you!

It's a root. A spike will be thinner and solid green. Spikes come from same-sort-of locations, but are not real thick like this one.
