Shoulda, coulda, woulda....wish I had known about the Project #4. I purchased an Aerangis luteo-alba v. rhodosticta from an orchid greenhouse here in Maine on 7/21/07 that was not in medium at all and only had 3 leaves. Very young. It has grown to have 5 leaves that look nice and healthy. (knock on wood). I have it in a 4 inch cedar hanging box of perlite and coconut husks..all held together by part of an onion bag, in bright indirect light. I mist every day. I'm watching your project now that I know about it just to compare and make sure I am on the right track. So although I have missed the onset of the project...this still helps me alot. Thanks! BTW, how long does the project go? Til a bloom? What determines the grand finale? I'll be one of the bleacher people, cheering you all on. You have no idea how much you all have helped me by the wealth of information here on OB.

I'm not in charge here, but I think it's who gets the first bloom. We have two groups, 'cause some of us received their plants already in spike and that wouldn't be fair for the others who didn't. Now, since you just purchased a wimpy rhodosticta can we allow her to compete? Question for Suesanne, the project guru. Would this open too many questions for future contests? I vote to allow her to compete (should she choose).

Hi Ross
Anybody that wants to follow along and become involved in our conversations is more than welcome to do so...but I don't think it would be fair for anybody new to be added to the list now that the project has progressed so far along.
Kiki-do is among a group of folks who will hopefully join us again in a few months for our next project.

Sorry I forgot to give the following info on my project plant:
Potted or mounted-- potted for now
Open/orchidarium-- Orchidarium!
Indoors/outdoors-- Indoors of course!
Approx amount of light-- Sitting on the bottom of the orchidarium....about three or four feet from the lights.
Approx temps-- Days, high 70's low 80's, Nights low 70's to very high 60's.
Approx humidity-- 70% to 80%
Watering and fertilizer regime- RO Water...about once a week with misting in between. I will start watering more if it dries out to quickly. I plan on fertilizing with a week solution weekly for three waterings and flushing the fourth week (did that make sense?)

Thanks Ross and Suzanne for the imput. I'm just happy to follow along at this point and pick up valuable learning lessons. Very true, it wouldn't be fair to everyone else and I really don't know what the rules are of these projects yet. I'm just tuning in. It's all good! kiki-do

Potted or mounted-- Mounted
Open/orchidarium—Open, I have it hanging in the orchid room.
Indoors/outdoors—It is indoors
Approx amount of light—It’s about I’d say 10 inches below the lights.
Approx temps—During the day it’s been about a steady 90 with fans run. At night the normal low is about 70. (During the summer)
Approx humidity—The humidity is about 60%
Watering and fertilizer regime- I water it roughly every other day along with the other mounted plants. I mist them all the day in-between if it’s really hot. (It has been really warm the last few weeks) I fertilize about once every 2 weeks.
