Yes, a people's choice could be included. lol I've been trying to explain my thinking, that we would have more opportunity to learn if the project was more of a "contest" in design, where there would be different skill divisions, that would each be judged by a "professional."
If all of it was judged by popular vote, it would not necessarily be a judge of skill- so not as much opportunity to learn.

Sounds good. I'll be waiting. I do however, think that one judge per contest would be more than enough, take it slow at first

Sorry I've been away at a horse show and haven't been on since my suggestion.
I like both ideas. I would suggest that in the "contest" setting that we ask participants to post their process for the end result so that we can make suggestions or comments about it. This would enhance the learning process.
For example, if I posted in the beginner section:
Picture taken of __ at 4pm in natural sunlight using __ camera in the auto setting mode. No flash. I used iPhoto to photoshop it in the auto mode.
For example, if I posted in the advanced section. Picture taken of __ at 4pm in natural sunlight using a 4x4 diffuser panel. F-stop at __ with aperture setting of __. Using ___ to photo shop, I was able to remove the brown tip on this leaf by ___.
I do think it is important to let all participants ask questions of each other about their methods for the final product.
What do you think? Okay off to read other posts then back to the horse show.

i think that is a great idea! the entrants should add all the information they have. such as, digital processing, f-stop, shutter speed, iso, flash, time, etc....
have fun at the horse show!

The info could be shared on a separate "chit chat" thread, so that the "photo entry" thread doesn't get clogged and scattered.

I think it would be good to add this info to the juging thread. It would help the judges give suggestions
By the way, I have q judge for this coming one, if we dot already have a judge. I think one per forest would be best

Hi all! a brief hello to say I'm still interested in this, however I've had some exciting news keeping me busy on the home front. My parents have agreed to sell their home in Oregon to move to where I live! This is fantastic, and although it may take a while for their house to sell, it's a huge deal, as I am very close with my mom who is aging and caring for her mom who is 93.
Anyway, all in all, I'm still super happy to have a winter project focus! I appreciate anyone who will be posting this info and I will join in! much love to all!
