Am I making sense?
truth truth : ) I totally get what you are saying. i do like the idea of getting feedback if others are inclined to offer it, and mostly I will be doing this as a way to open myself up to life and not be sucked in by the vice grip of winter SAD,

Once it's decided what is going to happen, I would be happy to start threads each month if it's the contest idea, or start a thread if we are going the project route. Just let me know and I'll be happy to help

any help you want to give would be excellent and appreciated. I work full time and most days cannot be on the computer for non-work related things. Today is a great exception, everyone is gone . And, at home, I have two kids in elementary school and the chaos of dinner and homework. I don't really know how to put it all into words for a post.

I don't think there's any reason to decide between a project and a contest. The contest can be the same as the project. Kind of how I tried to explain above.

Bob, I'll PM you, and we can figure out what we want to do. You and I can be the organizers this time around.
In the mean time, I think I'll make a thread asking for those "professionals" among us to offer their services when the time comes.

i thought that originally, but i think that Izzie wanted to ask some of the pros to help judge, so that we can get critiques and therefore learn how to improve our photography. as far as i know, we were still planning on having people vote for their favorite too.

hope that made sense
