I just remounted mine today, I'll try and post pictures soon but hubby and I have taken lots of orchid shots today and I've not sorted through them all yet (and it's gone midnight so going to bed soon).

Other than that it's just growing and growing and growing, lots of new growths started during the year so they range from ones starting to fatten into bulbs, to new only just started ones.

Mine has been growing new pbulbs like crazy and outgrew the pot so I repotted. I am keeping it in the South window and watering pretty much twice a week. Hopefully next spring/summer it will finally bloom.

As I said above, I remounted mine last night.

The old mount was one of those cork slabs (lumps of cork stuck together into slabs). It had totally disintegrated and I decided to remove most of it. It just fell to pieces like removing decomposed bark from a potted orchid. The roots were running all through it, you can see below all the roots that were inside the cork of the mount. Because it fell to pieces so easily they weren't really damaged by removing it.

The new mount is a solid piece of cork bark that I bought in the pet section of my garden centre (sold to go in vivariums). I mounted near the bottom of it, because I know these orchids are likely to climb. I put some sphagmum in the places there was a large gap under where the plant sat and where the new mount is.

I was also careful to leave the front surface of the old mount and it's covering of live moss. This live moss has grown there from a tiny spot of it when I first bought the plant. Max seems happy enough with it there and I like the look so left it.

I'm pleased with the result. I hope it settles onto this new mount well.

I think I may have killed mine… I moved it to the office in September so it could get better sunlight, but I didn’t realize that it’s drying out much faster now that it's in full sun. The bulbs are permanently shrivelled and it looks like most of the roots dried up and died. Since it doesn’t seem like this Max puts out very many new roots, I think it may be a goner. This just further confirms what I’ve been thinking in the past year; If it’s not a Phal then I’ll kill it. I’m just no good at all with non Phals Kind of ironic since I work with plants for a living.
