Well I think that like Camille, what I thought were flower spikes are new growths.
But I'm not that disapointed. Counting up this morning that means that the plant has gone from three growth points to fourteen
So my plant is massively putting on a growth spurt and is going to get a lot bigger soon. I would have liked flowers, but such a massive growth spurt will do for me

Disappointing, but not that bad! Sounds like yours is growing like a weed. Mine just got badly chewed. It's an indoor orchid, but someone a gigantic grasshopper (must have been 4cm long!) got inside and happily munched on the Max and half a dozen phals.....

mines dead and I couldnt stand it anymore and trashed it..That was the last of the horrible Orchids of Los Osos fiasco. I got root rot ,mealys, and spider mites all from one vendor. And not one grown out bloom. Was doing fine until the heat got the bulbs this summer.. I dont like the maxillaria anyway I have decided. I didnt neglect it just didnt like it. Bad start maybe? Maybe

So sorry to hear you had such problems
I wasn't sure I would like it to begin with, but even though I've got new flowers I'm enjoying it. Although the mount of mine has almost entirely disintegrated and it's going to need a new one... should have had a new one months ago.

Mine's never bloomed either (probably not enough light, but can't do much about that, other than moving) but I really like the plant itself. Compact upright growth, and the leaves arch over quite gracefully.
Rosie, are you going to put it on a new mount, or chuck it in a pot?

I think I will mount it again. I have the yellow variety in a pot now and I don't feel as confident on watering that one so I think I'm best keeping the project plant mounted. I have a mount I was planning to use for the Milt spectabilis project plant which has outgrown it's mount. I think this one is more urgent now.

Do you have a recent pic of the Max on its mount? Curious to see how it grows on the mount compared to in a pot.

I'll try and remember to look one out (or take one) when I get home. Nudge me on facebook if I seem to have forgotten.

I feel for ya Camille! Mine is doing the same thing. But this is the third time! Mine is huge now! I'm guessing at least 60 bulbs. But no blooms! It could be light, but mine is pretty high. Do you think I should try putting it out with the cattleyas? The catts get full sun starting from like 8:30 9am
