I think I have at least 3 spikes

After seeing Camille's pictures, today I very gently pulled back the second sheath next to one of the p-bulbs that also has a new growth. And down low there was a growing something. Like Camille's it is fatter/more rounded than the new growths.

I gently laid the sheath back over it, and looked in a similar place on the other two with new growths and sure enough all three of them have the start of spikes

Hurrh for your spikes Rosie!! I just love this plant, it's so exciting to watch everything grow.

My orchids are being nice to me these days, I see lots of spikes. My little cork mounted Podangis dactyloceras put out 10 spikes (I though they were new growths), and this is the first blooming since getting it 2 years ago.

Checked mine this morning, I've got several new bulbs forming and I think a few nubs which will be flowers. Cool!

They're not spikes on mine Coming from the 2nd sheath like spikes should, on the flat side of the bulb; and rounded nubbins. Should have been spikes. Just got back from a 2 week trip back up to the Netherlands, I eagerly go check on the plant, and discover that the nubbins are now very long and pointy, and look just like growths.... How crushingly disappointing!

That sucks!

I still think mine are spikes, but growing very slowly. The fourth one which I was never sure about is growing faster and I'm now certain is a new growth but I'm quite pleased about that as it is an extra growth point on the plant that wasn't there before.

Oh Camille that does suck!
I think all of my new growths are pbulbs, nothing that comes close to looking like a spike.

I don't mind new growths since it means more flowers later on, but I really really thought that I had spikes! Still, one thing about this plant that amazes me is how fast it grows! I got it as an 7 bulb plant and it put out 7 new ones last fall. Right now, if you include the ex-spikes, it's growing no less than 13 new growths! It's going to get very big, very fast.
