I'm looking forward to seeing how it does, too! The plant was on a plaque when I got it. I soaked it thoroughly in a bucket of water (10 minutes or so), then I cut the monofiliment line that was holding it in place. The plant came right off the plaque - none of the roots had adhered to the plaque yet - they were all in the moss pad.
I handled it pretty gently; I hope it makes it. In the greenhouse where I'm growing it, it won't get watered daily, so potted or dead are the two choices I have... I'm definitely not afraid of killing plants!

Finally got mine in today. About 5-7 nice plump bulbs in about a 3 inch pot. I have never got an orchid in this medium before though. It is very black looking and reminds me of tree roots. It is not packed tight at all. Lots of air everywhere. Anyone? I will post pics a bit later when wife gets home with the camera.

cheers and loving all the pics,
Jason

So, my hunt continues.

My plant arrived on thursday together with it's TC's here they are unwrapped but still in the box they arrived in together with some perlite Photo taken with my phone @ work.
It's been raining & cloudy here so I haven't taken other pics for now will post individual close ups this weekend.
I got:
- Maxillaria Tenufolia- nice plant (nothing like Helps specimen)!
-Gastrochilus Japonicum - already flowered (v.shrivelled dried flower spike still visible)
-Encyclia Tampenese alba - no signs of it having flowered
- a phal equestris 'Blue lip' - in flower - although flowers a bit 'squashed ' when unwrapped even though very good packing. But equestris go on and on flowering so am not too bothered as plenty buds forming at end of spike
Voilà
that's my haul this time round!
(I've said to dear H. this is the last 'order' for this year)... will see

how would that be bonsai? i dot see any opportunity for bonsai here, but if there is one, id like to know! haha i could use the larger of the divisions for a kusamono, once it blooms and is a bit fuller, but it would have to have the right bonsai for it to go with

nenella!- you are SOO lucky!! i want an encyclia tampensis sooo bad! especially the alba variation!

I was referring to the pot on the left in the first picture.

Thought of you today when I saw some adorable little ornamental "capsicums" in teeny 1" pots. I just about died.
Like these: http://www.harstergreenhouses.com/images/CS0A1.jpg
Only tinier, and not in tacky wrapping. And far more adorable. Probably because they were tiny. Adorably teeny.

Ask for a seed pod, then beg someone on here that does hobby propagation.
If who I'm thinking of sees this, they can speak for themselves.
