Oh cool! I see now that that was involved in another project.
I don't think it counts, though, if your plant came in bloom.

I posted research and threads/websites (everything I could find, basically) about the max back on page 12, in case people didn't see it.

If any of you guys want to use perlite, it works fine, just sift through the small particles and use the larger ones. My mix is mostly pumice/perlite with some SuperSphag mixed in.
Although I don't see why pure pumice won't work either.

Phil- forgot the pumice, you're right, that would work well as well. I can only get Hydroton and lava rock.
FYI- in addition to the ones I posted, Orchidsamore has made a new thread about M. tenuifolia here- Maxillaria tenuifolia - Coconut orchid Care and propagtion
More info on growing and such back on my post on page 12.

well, I went ahead and bought mine on ebay for $10 with $10 shipping, and I got a dendrobium kingianum as well. The seller who I ordered from was orchidsolo, and my plant were shipped FedX and arrived today.
So... my max. tenuifolia looks like this, and this, and the tags said this and this.
It still has a few old blossoms on it, which in their ending stage I will be honest, smell like coconut they DO NOT. My only hope is that at the next blooming, they will live up to their name of 'coconut orchid'
Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what to do with it, and I haven't had time to check out the roots yet. I will likely try to repot this weekend in bark.
Not sure if I'm excited by this project plant or intimidated by the mass of pseudobulbs, ahaha!

prototype
I haven't ordered mine yet but I been playing with my OLD MAXI until I can order, you all leave me a good one out there ..theres nothing wrong with this one but Ive had it for about 3 months so it doesn't count as project material..I found a use for the old RADDiator in the bathroom heres my prototype cork mount..I want the clay watering pot but we have to see about that item..
84.7 degrees and 73% hooomidity is spot on the money!!! and makes for a hot damn bathroom...No sitting in the library in my home unless your an orchid
this is more fun than a cane full of mealies!!!
And embellished it just a little bit cus I found a neat stick with some ball moss on it

Looks good!
Any particular reason why you're planning on bark? These guys like more moisture than that may provide. Might work in your conditions though.

just had an email to say mine's been sent!
It'll be just my luck if they try and delivery it tommorow as it's coming to the office and I'm not here tommorow. Anyway, it's got to come from Germany and according to the tracking number it may still be at that end. I'm actually hoping the don't try to deliver until Monday.
Anyway mine is meant to be mounted, although I've previously had one from this grower that said that then turned out to be potted... so we shall see... I'm so excited
