I think that these things function a bit like swampsticks. I'm assuming that the plant would be mounted on the outside of the 'pot', then you fill it will water. The water then seeps through the clay to keep the roots humid. You'll have to wait for his answer to be sure, but that's how I assume they work!

yeah, where can i get one?? if max. tenuifolia likes to stay wet, than wouldn't it not be a good candidate for a mount?

mary, do you know if the discount would work if we bought bigger pots? like if i wanted to buy a 4" pot normally listed for $12 instead of the 3" pot normally listed for $10, would the 4" pot be reduced to $10?

Actually I ordered one of each and the 3 inch is fuller. So I would go for that one. But I'm sure they will give the discount for the larger ones. They did only mention the 3 though.
