I think it was just a lot to take in, even though it was simple enough. Thank you by the way for being patient.

Hey Dave, I think I am going to bow out of this project. Too much going on right now (I want to build a new shade house, you know). But I'll do the next one. Thanks for all your hard work (as usual).

That's the point of the project. If we didn't grow the same plant- it would basically be like what we do on the rest of the board, get it?

I understand what you are trying to say, however, I disagree that doing different plants that were part of a group (for example, miniature Dendrobiums or a particular group of Cattleyas) would not be a valid project. I am not saying everyone would have plants that were totally unrelated like the rest of the forum. What I am saying that people growing their choice within a certain group that is decided upon would be more interesting FOR ME, and it might make it easier on others that may not have access to a lot of different vendors. Just because a particular plant is available in Europe doesn't mean everyone here has access to it for a variety of reasons. I can of course agree to disagree. Get it?

:faint:

First to Dave... :thankyou: for once again stepping up and suggesting a project

Next...the projects here on OB have ALWAYS been about ONE plant being grown by all participants. We've had variations on that idea such as the cool-intermediate-warm project but the end result has always been that it is ONE plant within those confines.

This thread is already 12 pages long and about 9 of them have been wasted.

From the very first post in this thread...

Quote:

Well it's almost August and was thinking of doing another project. During the last spring 2010 Camille1585 suggested doing a Dendrobium moniliforme project. Very similar to the Neo. project. or was thinking of doing a single Interm. plant project. So if your interested let me know and we can work out the details
It specifically says it will be either a) a Dendrobium moniliforme project -OR- b) a single Interm. plant project

Anybody interested in being part of the project should take that into consideration. The result will be one or the other.

Any other ideas for criteria can be suggested at another time for another project...but please remember that the person who organizes these projects does a lot of work trying to make it run smoothly.

Please work with Dave on this to make it as great an experience as our projects have always been in the past. The way this thread is going is a real turn-off which goes against the whole purpose of the OB projects :bua:

Dave, I'm not able to get involved right now as much as I'd like but if you need anything or thiings get out of hand here please let me know :bowing

True...but it is not a valid suggestion for this project.

You have the power to suggest and organize a different project for the future. It can be based on whatever criteria is agreed upon with just one caveat...as per all OB projects, all participants within that project will agree in the end to acquire the same plant. Otherwise it's just a big group shopping trip

Hey... I seem to have missed this. Been away two weeks, only just catching up on posts and missed it.

I've not read all this thread yet and I will have to check with Hubby if I can have another but I want to join if Hubby says yes. Is it too late? please.gif

flhiker 07-26-2010 08:31 AM

The purpose of the project is to compare our growing condition and success or failure. So we can learn from each other. Different plants are just that Different. Apple's and orange's. It defeats the purpose of the project. After 10 projects I/we have covered most every question and concern possible and found this method to be the most sensible. This is suppose to fun and educational, not a test of will's.

No Rosie it's just getting started. Welcome.

RosieC 07-26-2010 08:51 AM

Thanks Dave, glad I'm not too late.

It was when I spotted the poll in the 'new threads' that I thought "Hey didn't even realise there was a project". I've only been reading specific bits since I got back from holiday and have not caught up fully yet.

I'm going to read through this thread and the poll when I get home tonight and have a bit more time. Then I've got to try and persuade hubby... you see I bought two new orchids on the way back from our vacation so it will be a case of please.gif
