I finally got around to ordering mine from Oak Hill and received it last night. It looks just like Connies. I'll get a picture tomorrow. I haven't had much success blooming catts over the years, I'll have to work on getting stronger lights for the winter months.

Becca,
I'v never done it but I think I will seriously consider mounting my anceps when repotting is needed. Just another option to consider, decisions, decisions.

While my division is not huge...it would be to large for me to mount for my growing area. The grower I got it from was growing it in a wood basket but I can't remember the potting medium she said she was using.

Izzie, I think your growing conditions would be similar to mine...I'm in Boise, ID. I have no problem with moss not drying out fast enough as long as the pot size isn't to large. I must admit though...I still can rot some roots in the stuff with my phals if I am not careful, but that is in a plastic pot though.

I'm really tempted to try the sphagnum moss...here is a link to the ebay seller that has the beautiful healthy divisions growing in sphagnum moss: Laelia anceps percivaliana 'Nina Bonita' orchid species - eBay (item 190393519235 end time May-09-10 18:50:35 PDT)

I see what your saying, we might be pretty similar.
I'm pretty sure that a mounted plant would not be happy in my house though- my humidity just isn't ideal.
I've used a sphag top dressing with success on my catt alliances and phals.

I'm not running it, so I can't say for certain, but I think if you can get hold of the plant easily/quickly then it should be fine.

I only got my plant for one of the other spring projects last week and I have a feeling that Dave who is running the projects is getting his at the weekend.

I know that at least one member of this project bought theirs from Oak Hill and was really pleased with it (see messages above).
Oak Hill Gardens

I didn't get this one and I'm in the UK anyway so have to buy from different places. Hope you manage to get one. I joined the cool project late as well.

Reading the messages it appears Connie got two, one for Oak Hill and one from Andy's.

I've found it on Andy's website if that helps
