Awesome Connie! You should post pictures.
I'm such a dork, I thought it would be interesting to make a collage of pictures of all our anceps at different stages of the project. One at arrival, after a month or something, when they bloom, etc. I'd be happy to do it if anybody else thinks it would be neat.
I'll hide my ugly duckling in a corner.

I think that's a great idea Izzy! I, for one, would like to compare plants like that. I'm still anxious to see pics of other people's plants to compare to mine as well just out of curiousity. Being that I've never grown 'chids from this group before, I don't know what to expect or how to measure success really (well blooms would be obvious success ).
You can use the pic I posted of my L. anceps when it arrived if you want to make the collages.
Now... everyone else... POST PICS!!! We wanna see your beautiful 'chids!

I was going have a gallery setup for this project. As we did for previous projects. Thanks for reminding me.

Well I finally took pics of my project orchids and have posted them in my gallery.
This is my pride and joy...it's from Andy's and beautifully mounted.
What do you think?

So I might be obsessing, but you can never be too careful.
After overloving/ misting/watering my anceps after getting some faulty advice, the roots are not as firm as I'd like. Dry or wet, they don't feel completely hollow, but certainly not healthy.
These were originally aerial roots, now buried in bark- so I suppose I should expect some loss.
However, is it possible for a rhizome to have a limit to the number of roots it can put out? It's been a month, and there is no sign of new roots starting.
Overwatered the first week or so, but have kept the plant drier since then, with raised humidity.
The plant has had a soak in coconut water, and I've added a small amount of Superthrive whenever I've watered.

Izzie, I don't think I would have buried the aerial roots at all. They are not conditioned to be in the media. Once aerial roots always aerial roots. Maybe a few of them buried would have been enough to hold the plant steady while new roots grow into the media.
Hope this helps
