Pic 3 is just a new lead, with the bulb starting to plump and the sheath leaves coming away and drying- which is normal. Or there might be another small eye/lead growing on it as well- hard to tell from the photo angle. Either way, normal and good news.

A dormant eye is where a new lead will start if the plant decides it feels like it.

oh, okay, so nothing to sorry about :D :D phew i hope mine feels like it! the dormant eye, i dont think it was there when i got it.

i repotted the other day, i accidentally nicked the small lead and it broke :((((((((( so it probably wont be any thing off the small lead :'(

but on the bright side, the big lead is even bigger! i can see the plumbing of the pseudobulb too!!

Looks ok to me..
In fact looks a lot healthier than mine!
I've ended up with quite a lot of rotted roots & shrivelling p/bulbs. I am now very closley 'watching' for new roots; At least I have a new lead growing. Mine is very purple in colour; is this ok ?or is it getting too much light? It's next to my other cattleyas (a white noid and a hybrid both of which I have had for a few years)

i don't know why it looks purple. But, wen I repotted, I didn't have to remove any roots. But there weren't any growing tips

The purple color is an indication that it is getting sufficient light- be sure to not increase by much. Think of it as the orchid's home-made "sunscreen."

Hi nenella, Mine also has a new growth which is purplish in color. I'm thinking it's like my Tolumnias, which are happiest when turning purple. The laelia's seem to like it very bright and dry. I have mine hanging outside where it gets full morning sun until about 11AM and the some more full sun after 5PM.
