Most people are unable to get plants till it warms up. I'm sure someone will start a project then.

Hi y'all,

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what a "Member Project" is or how it works or how to participate. But anyway, here's a pic of my Leptotes unicolor - taken last January when it was in bloom.

Hi Ray,

The 'member projects' have been run for a few years now. The idea is that a specific orchid is chosen for the project and everyone taking part buys it arround the same time and then posts updates on how it is growing and how they are caring for it.

Generally once someone starts one there are criteria laid out for the type of orchid and people make suggestions for what they think is suitible. There will be a thread for people to sign up to take part, then there will be a poll for those who have signed up to vote on which plant should be picked. That's when the fun begins as everyone buys the plant and starts growing it.

This year for the first time we had three projects going at once, cool, intermediate & warm. This is the first time I took part and the great thing is that you often end up growing something you would not have otherwise tried and it can be really exciting to see how it does for you.

I forgot to say Ray how good your Leptotes looks!

I did not take part in this project but have been following it and it's great to see one in flower. How long have you owned it? Does it grow well for you?

Hi Rosie,

Thanks for the explanation of member projects. And thanks for the compliments on my Leptotes.
I got mine from Andy's in February of '07. I had grown it indoors in a bright window for pretty much all that time and it bloomed last January. I've had it outdoors since this last spring, and although the plant has grown considerably bigger, I haven't had any flowers yet this year. But it is a cool little thing and the flowers are delicately lovely IMO.

My Leptotes bloomed a couple weeks ago. The blooms didn't last to long. I will get some pictures up soon, I hope.
