Same here... but I think mine started smaller to begin with. It's always got a combination of developing p-bulbs, large lead growths & small lead growths. Because mine is mounted I look at it closely on a regular basis and even over the winter it's been constantly growing.

Dave... 5 times a week that's more than I've been watering my mounted one over the winter! It's probably been getting 4 soakings a week.

Interesting to see those experiments with parts of it in different conditions. Nenella yours looks huge even after it's been split.

Mine is in a west window. It's a frosted bathroom window but otherwise it gets full light. That's not so bright at this time of year but it was in the same place since not long after I bought it and seems happy with the bright light.

Smile Any Updates on the Spring '09 Project Miltonia Spectabilis

I hope I am on the right OB Project. I purchased a nice Miltonia Spectabilis from Ray's First Orchids. I am interested in finding out how everyone in the project's Miltonia Spectabilis are doing. Any blooming yet? This is what mine looks like. Lots of new growth.

Sheridan

Yeah mine is doing well, take a look at the thread Dave has linked to above.

Mine is about the same as Dave's, lots of new growths but no blooms as yet.

Actually I'm going to post a quick update on the other thread, then close this one so that we don't start getting updates on the plant split over two places.

Just a quick update. Mine has been in a south/west window and has been getting a yellow hint recently.

At the weekend I put it outside on the same side of the house and it has actually gone even yellower. It's still not as yellow as the ones you guys got from Andy's though!

I'm not sure if I should keep putting it out in the sun. I'm sure I remember reading earlier in this thread that those of you who had bought from Andy's had been told they flower better with high light (can't find it now though). It looks really healthy still despite the yellow tint and if that is actually good for flowering then I want to go that way.

Does this guy flower at a particular time of year does anyone know?

Mine almost croaked over the winter I think mounting in might have been a mistake. That said, I was able to remove some Phals out of my terrarium that I had transplanted into s/h last fall, and I moved the Miltonia in. Over the past couple weeks the newer growths have started sending out new roots and attaching themselves to the driftwood. Hopefully the plant will start doing better this year.

Hope yours makes it Tyler. Mine is doing well mounted but the nursary had grown it that way so it was alredy adapted to that. Hopefully with new roots yours will get going.

WOW! Does this plant flower differently. What I thought was new growth's turned out to be spikes. I went out this morning not expecting anything from this plant and just like that it had a flower. I never saw it coming. The spike looks like a new growth with that weaved look running up the spike. And it flowers at the very tip. It's a matter of where the spike is coming from.
