I have a tendency to forget plants that I have soaking too. I'm thinking about getting a few cheap kitchen timers and leaving them in the rooms I have orchids soaking in.
I'm hoping that at least one of my new growths is actually a spike. I just repotted it into a larger basket with moss again, since it seemed happy in moss. The old stuff it was in was just to icky to bring inside my house.

Good idea Beverly! It's exactly what I do with my orchids when I let them soak! I also sometimes when running late in the morning, put them in to soak, turn on the timer as a reminder for my fiance to pull them out and put them back in their respective pots. It works everytime!

Just curious is how everyone's project 9 plants are doing. Mine seems to be doing great, a few new growths but no spikes as yet. They are hanging under my Oak tree with plenty of light.

So whats happening with yours?

Mine had 7 spikes on arrival and they all bloomed... what a lovely chid!

The sheaths were a deep yellow color when I got it and my hubby kept telling me it was dead...and I kept pointing out the spikes!

It turned out to be one of his favorite chids yet and is still holding on to it's final 2 blooms

You all made a wonderful choice for the project

My miltonia is alot less yellow then when it arrived but some yellow remains. Lots of new growth but over the past month or so the growth has slowed down dramatically! I left it in the spagh moss. No spikes yet..... Anyone else having a similar response?

Same with mine - hasn't done much & I moved it to a south window a week ago (was in a west one) ideally I think I should put it 'east' in the morning and 'south' in after lunch to get it the max light poss ? I have catts in both my west & south windows and they bloom...
I also have a feeling I'm not watering it enough?? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Well mine keeps growing and I'm facinated watching it because I have never had an orchid with psudo-bulbs (well not one that has actually grown).

There were four new growths starting when I got it and each of them has grown lots and the largest two are definately forming the psudo-bulbs now. (I can see them forming inside the leaves when you hold it up to the light).

There is also a fifth new growth which keeps getting bigger but is still quite small.

As mine is mounted I'm also watching masses of roots forming near every new growth.

No sign of spike yet and with the cold weather now I'm not expecting them for a while now. But I'm loving growing it.

If I hadn't ended up buying a mislabeled plant , I would have been having fun with you guys with this project plant! Too cold for shipping now, I'll have to wait until spring to get one...

7 spikes on yours Sue? WOW!!! Did you ever post a photo of it?

Oh, what a shame Camille.

There should be some pics of Sue's earlier in this thread. It was gorgeous!
