as for Currlin, I have ordered once from them. I must admit I was not impressed by the quality of the plants received. However, I know other people who has ordered from them and are very glad with their plants and service (I have seen many plants and they are much better than the ones I have received). So, in general, I would say they are good (even though I had the bad experience). They are also very well known in Germany. FYI, is you find a plant for the project, which is not in EU but available by Orchids Limited, Jerry is coming to Europe end of September (Deadline for orders is 08-AUG-08 I think) and could bring plants for you. Important: if the selected plant is not Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Paphiopedilum or Phragmipedium, then an order of at least 10 plants in the same genus must be placed. The reason for this is that UK has increased the fees per genus to imported to 59£. Jerry is bringing the 4 genera mentioned above, but all other genus will be brought only as per request (more than 10 plants, they cover the UK fees. Less than 10 plants, the fees will be shared on a per plant rate). Maybe you can have a look in thier catalogue too, and check if there is anything interesting for the project. Then send a message to them and check whether it is possible to order and for more detailed information on their trip to Europe. |
Is it almost time for another chat? Maybe on the weekend like Saturday or Sunday morning so our EU friends may join in?
Or even on a Friday evening...so everyone can sleep in the next day? Can someone start posting the Orchidwiz growing data...I wish I had that program...sigh. |

Thanks Nicole and Ramon for the info on Currlin. It was the only vendor in Europe that had a couple of plants I was interested in. I'll just try them as TC's.

HI all, I will need some help from some of our Canadian friends to find availablity for the plants on the list ( First post of this thread). The list is getting shortened greatly because I'm unable to locate most of the suggested plants in your country. If you know of vendors other then Paramount or Clouds that may have some of these Please let me know . This will help add plants and speed up the project. And also keep me from stepping out in traffic. Not really! It would be a tremendous help. Thanks

You could try Orchids In Our Tropics (Home - Orchids In Our Tropics). I've bought from them before and was pleased with what I got.
I don't have time immediately to check their catalogue against the list posted here, but from previous browsings I know at least that they have the following: Dendrobium loddigesii Dendrobium tetragonum Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica They have a fairly extensive catalogue so they likely have more. If a price is listed with it then they have it in stock. Tyler |
