Thanks Dave, I especially like the last one Masdevallia chaparensis.

I think I've decided that a Masdevallia will be a TC for the project plant (unless one gets picked for the project). I really want to give one a try.

Rosie, if you like Masdevallias and are looking for "warm tolerant" ones, I can suggest you the following species:

Masdevallia strobellii
Masdevalia nidifica
Masdevallia mejiana (not easy to find in Europe! - but not impossible)
Masdevallia lamprotyria
Masdevallia lilacina (very sensible to high lights!)

Masdevallia rex (not easy to find in Europe but not impossible)
Masdevallia triangularis
Masdevallia citrinella

I have the red ones growing without problems and blooming very well near my west - windowshill, where it can be very warm during the day but cools down at night (summertime). I leave them there in winter (window slightly open) and they love that then too! IMPORTANT: I grow them in Sphagnum and water them with pure water and almost no fertilizer (only very diluted once a month!)

most plants in the list are available in Europe (at least Kopf Orchideen), except the two I marked as difficultto get in Europe. - If first timewith Masdevallia, I would suggest you to start with strobellii or lamprotyria

Rosie, I saw on the website from Claessen (NL) that he now also has Masdies, but a list of the species he offers for sale is missing. This is the nursery I got the Haraella from and 2 TC's. All were in great shape.
Going to email him and ask which Masies he has for sale. I'll let you know.

Dave, I have an update for #9 and #23 on your plant list:
#9 Dendrobium atroviolaceum pygmy grows to about 9cm tall so it fits this project size.
#23 Maxillaria sophronitis grows intermediate to cool.

Does anyone in Europe purchase plants from Currlin Orchideen?

I knew them but only by name (German forum sponsor) but never read from people that ordered their plants there or visited the nursery. Just checked out their website and the shipping costs are a problem for most of us I tink. Minimum €17.50 up to €32.00, depending on weight and size. For me at least these shipping costs sound riduculous  compared to what other nurseries count for shipping, but if we can order with for instance three people and share the shipping costs it might be different... but to inform the others from Europe. From an address in NL to for instance an other address in Europe again is about €7.25 for each package. This way shipping costs still might become almost €20.00 for each individual person.

Hi flhiker,

I sent you a few pm's and just wanted to make sure you got them regarding a few plants...since they weren't updated on the lists, wasn't sure if you had recieved them? If you did, no worries! Just wanted to make sure.
