Considering I do NOT have Orchidwiz I was thinking that since Oak Hill has done a great job with project plants in the past. I think we should consider them first, also they have alot of species to choose from. Choose only from there website so we know they are at least available here. These plants of course will have to be available to all. Once we get a list going we can finalize the list in Chat. This is where I will need help from some you in other countries with availability. So that quantity is not a issue we have 3 different plants to choose from Cool, Interm, and Warm (I to C will be considered C and I to W will be considered W). I think you should only suggest plants in the group you are going to participate in. Well that's my suggestion. How does that sound to you? I'm open to suggestions

I'm sure you can find people with orchidwiz to help you, since a lot of people have it.(I would have volunteered, if I was available.) I think it's a bit restrictive to limit the project to just one vendor. If things are limited in the US, the canadians are going to have a very hard time since they don't have much up there to begin with. Andy's is very good too, as well as several others from what I've heard.

If that's the case then we need to find out what is available in Canada first. I've gone through Oak Hills catalog, they have a very large selection to choose from. I'm really not interested in researching plants that we can't find. I really would like to start off with plants that are available somewhere rather then just randomly picking plants that are not available anywhere.

That's what I was thinking in previous projects. We've always been stuck trying to find plants that the canadians can get. Usually most plants in US are in EU. The ideal thing would be to select plants at the canadian vendors, then check for them in US and EU. That would save A LOT of time!

Too tired to put up links, but the main ones are Paramount Orchids, Orchids in our Tropics and Cloud's Orchids. Those are the ones everyone mentions usually, i don't know if there are others. I really wish I had internet this summer, I would really love to work on the project with you. I love organizing things!

Thanks, I check them out and it looks like Paramount has nice selection to choose from. And I'm thinking that our Canadian friends are not going to get the warm grower.

Here's a link to some of the search engines we've used in the past. DO NOT totally depend on just these links, they're not all up to date, necessarily

Finding a chid in any of Canada's vendors first is a good idea. We've tried it before and it doesn't always work but it's a step in the right direction

As for the U.S. vendor, it would be great to give this one to Andy's...Oak Hill (while I do LOVE them!) got the last project. Somebody should call Andy or Harry and find out which plants they have plenty of, like at least 25. That should help you figure things out

By the way, feel free to use my name...all the vendors we've dealt with are aware of the OB projects...and me

I'll update the EU search engine before I leave, and since I won' be here to advise, I'll remove all the iffy vendors from it. I'll leave only the ones which are known to carry quality orchids. The search engine works pretty well, although some vendors don't show up in the results even if they have the plant. I can give you (or someone else) the names of those so they can be checked directly.
