A number of us, including me, voted for something other than the paph but we aren't all backing out. The understanding at the start of it all is that whichever plant gets the most votes is the plant we all agree to get...whether it's our favorite or not.

I knew it would happen but I'm still kind of surprised. The same thing happened in our last project too but it's still disappointing

Oh well...I'm getting a new paph

I'm sure we'll all enjoy the rest of the project.

When anybody drops out, it makes me wonder if we didn't discuss a particular plant due to their influence in the discussions. Our list could've had something else on it that wasn't considered throughout the discussions.

This is not about making me proud guys...it's about us all having fun with it ... but thanks anyway

This is a little distressing. I mean, the venustum isn't my fav paph, but it does have it's good points. Easy to grow appartently, beautiful leaves, and a rather exotic looking flower. I have also read that it may well be extinct in the wild, that alone I believe is a noble reason for using this plant for the project.

I am still enthusiastic about this project.

Default I'm with you, Sue.

I joined the project knowing that the plant for which I voted may not be the one that I wanted. I was willing to grow something that I may not have wanted. I am still willling. Actually, Paph. venustum was not on my list originally. However, it is on my wish list and has been since I started growing orchids in 1994.

I just lucked out.

Sorry for backing out but as I stated i have had two of them (Paph venustum) already and haven't been thrilled with them. I would have gone for any of the others and was keeping my fingers crossed. I'll go along with everyone and get one if it will make things better.

No Wendy...please don't take my comments as a tactic to get everybody to continue.

I understand your reasons for not wanting the get the paph. If we had known that you already had one (or two), it wouldn't have even been part of the list we discussed

***Once the poll closes tomorrow, I will be sending a PM to everybody that voted for confirmation in their continuing with the project. I will be notifying Parkside of the outcome for the U.S. contingent and will be giving them a list of all the OB usernames for when we ppace our orders.

VERY IMPORTANT - and I'll send another reminder when we get closer to order time....

When placing your order with Parkside, you must give them your OB username to qualify for the 15% discount on the Paph venustum. They will have a list of our participating members' usernames from me for comparison.

The discount will not apply to any additional plants you order.

In any of our plant projects, some members will choose to not participate once the final choice becomes more obvious. The final list of choices certainly will not appeal to everyone. We all have our reasons - it would be great to know why.....maybe a poll is in order!
