Mine opened while I was on vacation last week. There's another bud forming right behind it. The suspected spike is a confirmed spike as of now. I'll try and take some pictures this weekend.

That's great Terri! No blooms this year yet on mine - tho weather in spring was unusually over-cast and cool, so maybe that set it back.

I have got 2 keikis so far this year, and there are 2 what I thought were spikes, but now suspect they too may be keikis - just have to wait and see I guess.
There is a new nubbie that I think is a spike - we'll see I guess ...

Well... I abandoned the Orchid Board ship (to no fault of OB, or anyone here!!) shortly after my little project plant arrived and was mounted.

I have to say, I probably would not have found and purchased this little 'chid on my own. But I just love it. It is my best bloomer!! The little thing rarely quits, and if it does, it's because I've neglected to water it for too long. I've lost a couple spikes that way, but it always pops right back.

In fact... I just nearly killed it (and some of it's friends too) when I was gone for 12 days and temps go too hot in the orchid tank with not enough water in the misting system... but it is coming right back and sending out another spike!

Happy to see hear your little guy is doing well. Most are very happy with this plant. Just in time to join the 2010 summer project. Welcome back.

wow! looks very happy! do you grow under lights?
just asking because mine the spikes seem to grow "low", and wondering if yours are getting overhead light ... certainly looks great - much better "presentation" than I have got

Mine is finally developing buds on some spikes that have been there for months! One, since early winter I think - they have been very slow growing this year - perhaps because our spring was mostly over-cast and cool, and summer, while plenty sunny, has been a bit cool as well. So the two oldest spikes are now developing buds, and there are at least two other spikes growing, possibly a third - so - if it ever gets around to blooming this year, should be very nice

Hi all thanks for the compliments!

To answer: Katie,
too late for the calendar!
+ need to clean off those fertiliser stains
...but, Glad you think so! photo was only was only taken yesterday/today so, too late for the comp but at least it's one that 'could be 'as It's in 'landscape' .. -which I have very few of .. I have now realised since the competiton .....

Whiterabbit, No I'm afraid I have no 'fancy stuff ' to help grow my orchids.... both my Haraellas are monted
on bark and hung inside a " water bottle" in front of
a S/W window.(covered with a net
curtain & doubled in upJuly/august- when sun is strongest)
The plants hang as in their natural habitat? leaves down & flowers grow 'up' facing towards the light from the window (these are one of the only plants I leave in the same 'spot' all year round . I would say average temp 22°C + 60 humdity min.
I can definately say that they love a few hours sunshine a day.and don't like to go dry more than a day...
Hope this helps .........
