does the plant have to be a seedling
or can it be a larger plant with no spikes or spikes cut back at the basse

You can buy whatever you want, since it's too late to join this project anyways. Haraella is really really small, so maybe getting a blooming size one is better. Totally up to you.

Yeah! Mine finally opened! When I got it, I tossed it in the fishtank wardian case on the top shelf under a plain old T-8 shop light. It shot up a spike really fast, developed a big bud, and then just kind of sat there as if mocking me. But as it slowly opened it was putting out a few more spikes! ![Smile](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif) I guess it like the tank. Anyways, here's the pic.
