reat photos Nicole! You got some really nice closeup shots of the blooms. Now if only you could send the smell over too.
I have a bud getting bigger and bigger on the second spike. I don't know how it will take to traveling next week. The bud is hanging over the edge of the pot, so I'm afraid it will somehow get wacked off in the box.

Oh no, you are not going to loose a second bud!

I'm curious if your Haraella likes the temperatures in France. I've a feeling the last week is too hot for its liking***. It seems the growing proces from all the buds I have on the plant slowed down.

*** Day temps 86 F, night temps 81 F (30-27,5 C)

1st place went to Shadytrake
and 2nd place went to Beverly

Don't forget that a new contest starts Sept. 1. If your plant is the first or second to develope a spike and flowers after Sept. 1.

Everyone don't forget to submit your photo of your plant without a spike around the first week of Sept. to be in the running. OH previous winner's are not eligible.

Well my project plant finally opened a bloom and it's got about 3 more spikes! I already had a mounted version of our project plant, I had let it get a little on the dry side on accident for a couple of days and the bud on the mounted one is blasting, but it has a few more spikes growing as well so I'm not too worried about it. These guys are one of my favorite...so many blooms on one 'chid, and while they don't last long, there seems to be always another bloom on the way when one finishes!

I just wanted to post a quick update. The heat doesn't seem to bother Haella Fitzgerald

I have a new leaf growing. No new spikes BUT I did a selfing on her so she has 2 buns in the oven.

Both seed pods are cooking nicely. They are a healthy green and quite long in shape.

I did turn the mount away from the direct sun and she gets misted 3 times / day. I am fertilizing 20-14-13 Urea free every 2 weeks.

The humidity here in Memphis, TN runs about 70% and the GH is about 75%. Temps have been in the 90s with heat index over 100...it has been HOT.

My GH mister has been going a LOT to keep it around mid 80s. I do NOT have a chiller/cooler.

Hope this helps for those in the HOT zones.

Yay, Nicole! Great photos. The markings on yours appear much more red/wine colored than mine (closer to a dark purple).

@RSS... absolutely stunning mount! LOVE it!

My update: my two spikes each have one bud plumping up. They look to be at the same size, so I'm really hoping they might both be open at the same time. *crosses fingers*

This project was done earlier this Spring. The participants have had their plants for a while. It is too late to join this project but the Summer Project is up and running It's a lot of fun BTW if you still want to get the Haraella it's Haraella odorata aka retrocala
