I see a swelling on the buds. I think she is popping open.

@ Shadytrake: picture time!
@ Joann, at least it is doing something for you. A new leaf is good, it's investment in the future! So, congrats with the new leaf!
@ Don, The Haraella is the only one I put on the scale. I really had no clue how much water it needed. Normally I can feel it on the weight of the pot. I guess you know that feeling when you lift a pot and think " wooow, that one needs to be watered too!" - but no way I could feel the difference for Haraella - At least it was a great way to get to know her

Woooow Camille, that is great news! I can't wait to hear of yours smells!
Maybe you should put yours also on a scale
BTW I tried to measure how much light clear pots take away. I should do more readings to get accurate results, but I think it's less than 9%. Clear water bottles do slightly better.

When I cover my Haraella with an upside down pot, I notice I don't have to water it as often, so I asume the humidity with pot is much better than without.
Nanella, can you upload a picture from your setup? You made me curious how it looks like.

Hi Nicole, apologies for the delay, but here you go.. these are my 3 bottles, in front of a south facing double net curtain, the one closest to bottom of photo is where I keep the Haraellas, Lobbii & aerangis - there's a baby phal noid keiki at the bottom as well as a Pelentheria insectiferia which although has grown..has lost a few leaves (my fault)
Shadytrake : I reckon yours is next to open! look forward to seeeing your pics! Whiterabbit & Camille Congrats - can't wait to see your blooms - Camille mine are on cork & I soak min once a day for at least 10 mins, I have noticed the roots plump up alot and become very green after a watering..

Great pics, Nenella! I love seeing the creative ways that other people have come up with to grow their 'chids!

That is such a great idea nenella! But where do you get the bottles? I thought that water cooler bottles were collected by the company in charge to be refilled. I must try to get my hands on one of them!
I did see something similar at the garden center. It's a glass thing with almost the same shape. It has no bottom and sits in a glass tray, and the top narrows but is still open. It's meant to put plants in. But it costs too much for me.

That's a great idea nenella. and to think I use mine for change.
Camille here in the states you can get them in grocery stores and home centers. You pay a deposit (not sure how much) for the bottle.
