I really like this little species...

Yesterday the GH temps got a little crispy due to the weather and my lack of preparation...(talk about panic) , but Haella Fitzgerald was happy as a clam.

She's popping the bud a little at a time. Likes lots of humidity, lots of sun and does well if it is shady part of the day too.

What a hardy little chid. Just likes lots of water

I noticed the same as you. I can take quit an amount of light. I had it in full morning sun, about 2.3 ft from the window (fan running). As I was affraid it would be too much for this little guy, I gave it some shade from the other plants but I get the idea that it liked a few hours of full morning sun.
As for water, mine came in compact and deteriorated moss but the roots were awesome. I have mine now for 2 weeks an took quit an amount of abuse (by me). I water it every other day and it seems to love it!

[QUOTE=whygreenberg;228147]My Haraella started opening up a bloom yesterday! And as soon as I got up from bed this morning, I took a sniff...and definitely got a hint of lemony fragrance! ... =QUOTE]

Hi, I just wanted to say that I confirm the lemon essence scent as of 7.30pm this evening and was very slight at 9.30 pm.. same as Bellina sort of.. but not as strong & it has a hint of 'other' fragrances found in perfumes but I did not manage to put my finger on it!

Sue, Congratulations on the spike!
Nicole I like your idea of puttting a pot over it! Looks like your humidity is very high compared to my growing conditions in a big plastic water bottle.. and your plant is in tip top condition - my set up shows 70% at bottom (on leca) & 60% at the 'top' where the plants are hanging (3/4 of the way up) ..
but I do dip my plants twice a day, so I suppose it makes up for the lack of humidity?

Yvan, nice plant & flower look forward to seeing it again & seeing if you detect the 'odorata' part of it?

Nanella, I can't measure the humity, the humidity meter doesn't fit under the upside down pot (I guess, never tried, but I'm going to try for you and I want to know it myself too). Last week I had 32% humidity in the room were most of the plants live The last few days we have had rain and thunderstorms (humidity goes up to 55% in the morning and even 92% outdoors.

When I cover my Haraella with an upside down pot, I notice I don't have to water it as often, so I asume the humidity with pot is much better than without.

Nanella, can you upload a picture from your setup? You made me curious how it looks like.

Nicole

dang! everyone has spikes except for me! lol
maybe I need to do something to increase humidity

I have been thinking about increasing light for cindharealla - wasn't sure how much it could take. But after reading other posts I guess I will give that a go!
