Jonny, that's exactly what we're doing. These blooms that people are talking about now do not count. It frequently happens that the plant we select just happens to be in a bloom cycle when we order them. That was the case with all 3 mystery plants. The project member who gets it to rebloom is the winner.

Smelly Ellie shows no sign of wanting to spike so I'm gonna go pout now!

If it makes you feel better, I got a Haraella back in October, and it still hasn't bloomed!

So you are not the only ones with finicky plants. We'll see about the Haraella for the project, it should be arriving tomorrow I hope!! With any luck there might be a spike on it.

I have just spotted a new something on my haraella I think it is a new root growing though, but I will take that! Any new growth is a good sign for me considering I was worried my humidity was way too low.

Hi all, I want it to be a fair as possible contest. I was under the impression that these bloom in the winter but it seems they have two blooming cycles. So what I will do is give the first two to get there's to bloom for booth cycles. The same choice's
The first two to get there's to bloom before Sept. and the first two after Sept.

I hope this makes it fair for everyone. Good Luck to all.

P.S. Anyone how may have a better idea for the contest don't hesitate to speak out.

I was under the impression that Haraella don't have a fixed blooming period. On Orchidwiz I found that the most blooms appear between June and December, but also found elsewhere that they will continue blooming the rest of the year, to the point of killing themselves sometimes. IMO, this is a hard orchid to have a blooming contest with, it's hard to judge at what point a spike is due to our conditions and not due to the growers.

Thanks Camille, that makes sense. Be as it may I don't want to wait a year for the contest to end so I will leave it as it is. The first two before and after Sept.

As yours comes from the same grower...

I'm also very curious about your Phal. Pulchra... mine is growing 2 spikes, they are about 1/3 - 1/2 cm now

If mine has no spikes that is so not fair! And if my pulchra has spikes, it can be our our personal project plant. First to bloom wins! (I don't know what we win!) I will be sooo happy to see Mr Mailman tomorrow, assuming Rick mailed the package today.
