AWESOME, Cullen! So excited that these might have some of the fragrance! Your lemony description is pretty much what I've heard about it.

My little 'Retrogal' finally has a spike. I thought she would never put one out and I was getting ready to start pouting! There are new roots and maybe, just maybe the makings of another spike. Can anyone tell me how long it takes from the size my spike is till bloom? I'm going to be out of town for a week and if she blooms I want to make sure a friend takes some pictures for me.

I can tell you the spike on mine is about the same size as yours, and it hasn't grown much in the past two weeks. So if you're only gone for a week, I'd guess you're safe.

Rain Again.
C'mon BLOOM!

My two are coming along nicely. I expect them to start opening by the end of next week (maybe).
Talk about a tease.
I would take a photo today but the rain has moved in again and it's overcast. If the sun pops out, I'll snap another pic.

Finally got my project plant!
I'm so envious of those of you who are showing spikes and even blooms on your project plant. I finally got mine last week from Paramount at the Vancouver Orchid Show and it is shockingly tiny! I doubt that, even though doing well, I'll be seeing flowers even next year. It is mounted on epiweb and, since I don't do well with slabs, I have the epiweb resting on sphag moss in a little clay pot. To go along with it I chose an Encyclia fragrans (I've already killed one and want to try again), and an Ascocentrum miniatum X Aer. flabellata -- could be interesting!

Shirley... That looks blooming size to me. These little Haraellas are just that tiny! Such cuties!

The project is supposed to be about learning the various requirements and growing conditions of various species right?
If so, maybe there should be a new rule for the NEXT (not this one) project that there should be a period where any spike would not be counted as part of the project.
Before everyone gets angry at me, it just seems logical to want to know what conditions the grower is using that produces the best results and if plants are spiking within the first month or even first weeks of receiving the plant, it is likely that it was from the conditions of the nursery and not that of the current grower.
I think it is safe for me to offer this observation because I am not part of this project so no one should take it as a looser who is pouting.
Again, this should be a consideration for the NEXT project not this one obviously.

Hi, Jonny! That actually is the basic idea behind the projects. And it is how we've gone about past projects as well. Same basic idea for this one too. But I think good to point out.

Shirley, That's actually larger than mine! But mine might be showing me the beginnings of a little spike!? Yours is definitley blooming size.
I just dropped mine in my tank where it gets about 80% humidity - it seems happy.
