I knew I had one that was possibly a spike, but this morning, I noticed a new little bump. It's way to soon to tell if it's a spike or a root, but I moved a piece of bark and found what looks like a second spike. These plants like to perform! I've also noticed that all the other orchids near it are growing better. They must be jealous of all the attention Furry Face is getting.

I'm getting impatient now. The spikes are getting bigger and I can see the color spot showing through the bud! Woo Hoo!

Looks like my little Haraellephant decided to stick out a trunk. (Er... I mean spike.) I'd say the race is on, but it looks like other folks have spikes that are quite a bit further along than mine!

Don't mind that others have spikes that are more develloped that your growth. At least yours is putting out a trunk instead of a spike!
Good growing!

Well I guess mine is in spike too. I have it growing under a blue LED lite for 12 hrs a day and off to the side of a 600 w HPS.
I also have Cypripedium parviflorum blooming in my yard and the Cypripedium Regina should be blooming in about a month.

Bloom is gone but I have another bud and a spike just starting at the base. As for the fragrance, Try it at night. Kind of a lemony chemical smell. very faint.
