Finally received the project plant. I knew it was going to be small but, we're talking teeny-weenie small. Since it's already in spike and it most probably won't re-spike before someone gets a new spike off theirs, I don't get to win any 'first one to bloom' prize but that's still a really fun proposal you've made, flhiker!

I'm doing the unmentionable for now with the the plant....I'm not repotting, just letting it grow in the medium Oak Hill had this potted in. I'll probably repot after blooming into spagh. with lots of sponge rock but, not now.

And, finally got my wish list plant as a TC, a Cirrhopetalem frostii (looks better in person than the pic). This was one of the first bulbos I wanted so all I can say is, Yippppeeee!

Sandy - I am doing the same. Leaving as is for the time being. Never had one so small (Cat & Vanda person) and wanted to give it a chance to "grow up" a little bit. Good luck with yours.

Very odd way to grow chids. I love it! The only thing I would worry about is old stagnant water and the PH going very acidic. I would just change the method a bit to allow for being able to pull the orchid up a bit to pour off old water and add good fresh stuff.

I understand. It is a lot easier to keep mounted orchids if you have a humid orchidarium or greenhouse as opposed to trying to grow them in a low humidity room.

Some folks get away with tiny miniatures in closed jars and such. I have major problems with fungus in environments like that due to the lack of air movement.

Hi All,
I'm also leaving mine in its pot. I mist it once or twice a day, it seems happy. I think its got another new root coming out.
I'm hoping to get a terrium or something one of these days.

Hi All!
I received my package today and got 2 nice surprises!
My Hubby ordered an 'extra' Haraella (without telling me) and they both have spikes..One has 2, the other has 1.
I would have rather they didn't.. I'm not complaining either
My 2 TC's Aerangis punctata & Ascofinetia (Neofinetia x Ascocentrum Miniatum) are also very nice. All are mounted on cork and I am going to keep them mounted. Here they all are :

I love the Aerangis punctata. I will have to add that one to my list.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately but I wanted to say WOW! I just love the way all the new chids look(including TCs

) and all the different ways folks are going to be growing them will make for a very interesting project!

When I water twice a week or so, I fill the jar completely (so that the water covers the bottom portion of the roots and sphagnum) and leave it that way for about half an hour before emptying it out. That way the roots get a good soaking and the water gets changed.
