Will it be difficult to find a vendor that can supply so many plants at the same stage of growth?

I finally found this thread....gee a lot of reading to do! Here's my 2 cents worth: I have intermediate to cool conditions...I avoid most Vandaceous like the plaque! I'm rather partial to Paphs and especially phrags. However, most of my collection is actually Oncidium alliance, so any of those would be of interest. HOWEVER, I did (note past tense) have Brassia verrucosa and the darn thing got huge but I never saw a flower...sort of turned me off (no offense Tony!). Maybe one of the hybrid Brassia..how about Brassada Orange Delight...now thats COOL and Paramount offers it. Alternatively, Brassia Rex could be good too.

Hi Lin,
So far, we have 16 U.S. participants, so I don't foresee a problem. We will be ordering from a large reputable company. I will contact them to confirm the answer to your question, and to inquire about a possible discount prior to us making a final decision on the vendor.

Todd, it won't be an easy task to choose a plant that "works" for all of us. That's the reason for rule # 1 being that it be an intermediate...it's the only way to give everybody a chance at early success.
Many people have space issues so choosing a plant that will get very large (unfortunately for me...) is probably not going to be chosen.

There will be LOTS of "discussion" and "debate" during the process but since we're all friends, it's a lot of fun to do

That has always been a worry from my part. The more participants, the less likely it is we will be able to agree on a plant, and less likely we will be able to find a source for it.
If that problem ever does occur, I suggest we split the project into two sections, with two different plants. Group A gets plant A as a project, and Group B gets plant B. Most likely, Plant A will be the most popular orchid chosen for the project, and Plant B the runner up. But lets hope that doesn't have to happen this time.
