I went through all the posts since our March 19th chat, and listed all the orchids that were suggested for the project that can work, and then all the others that were rejected for one reason or another. Here's the list, it's kinda helps keep track of things!
Orchids to be discussed in chat or need more info:
*Aerangis punctata
*Paphiopedilum henryanum
*Phalaenopsis pulchra (If SBOE sends list and has enough)
Orchids that don't meet criteria or not available:
*Cochleanthes amazonica - seedlings in CA
*Maxillaria variabilis - Not in CA, too big
*Sophronitis cernua - Not in CA
*Cattleya forbesii - seedlings in CA
*Barkeria spectabilis - not in CA
*Angraecum didieri - too expensive in CA ($30)
*Phal braceana - only seedlings in CA
*Helcia sanguinolenta - Not in USA, somewhat cool grower
*Epidendrum fragrans - too big
*Maxillaria cucullata - available to all, but too big

Thanks Camille...I thought we had more tentative plants
I checked the availability of Maxillaria cucullata: US at J & L, and Andy's both have blooming size. Canada at Paramount with blooming size. There are several places in EU, I did not check the sizes they offered.

I'll have a look for EU then, thanks for checking the other places! I'll also check growing requirements and size on OW.

Looks like we have to get rid of Maxillaria cucullata, it gets way too big... 2o inches! I'll change its 'status' in the list I made

IMPORTANT NOTE
Sue's computer is down and she will not be able to get online until sometime Tuesday, as a result, she will not be able to attend the next chat and wanted me to let you know that we are welcome to have the chat without her or reschedule until after Tuesday. If we choose to continue as planned, we need to make sure that notes are taken and give her a detailed update when her new modom arrives.
What shall it be?

I know that a Monday evening chat was discussed, but I don't think it was ever clearly announced in a way that would let everyone who's participating know about it. I was actually not certain that the Mon night chat was definite, and I follow these threads like a hawk. (Ok, well, maybe like a penguin.) I'd say we should "postpone" at least until there's been a clear announcement made about when it will be. Just my .

My opinion is to postpone until Sue can join in.

I know I havent been to a chat yet but seems to be a good idea to wait till Sue is back if she is only going to be gone until sometime tuesday, hopefully I will be able to come along to one soon
