Wow. Good detective work, Nichole! I'll second your suggestion to stick with the other vendors we've got more experience working with.

I didn't pm for the details, but from the sound of it, we're probably best to stick with the vendors we've already got. Bummer, it sure looked like they had a lot of stuff.
Pacifica is only a couple hours from me, perhaps I'll be able to make a trip out there in time and then I can report back! It wouldn't be before the project though.

...and I found this:
White Oak Orchids - Pacifica, CA
If there's even a chance that 56 people could get poor quality plants, I say let's leave this vendor out of the project.

I know it has been rejected from a previous project because ofthe size. However, Orchidwiz gives this paph as "may be up to 14" tall with spike, and an overall width of14" leatip to leaftip."
If we see the link given above ( slipperorchids.info) this plant is given as rather small. It is actually considered as one of the smallest Paphies, and most plants I have seen (including mine) are not larger than 10" wide and 7" tall (including the flower). For me, Orchidwiz gives the largest size "as up to" but most plants being rather smaller than that. Even in the exceptional extrem case of a plant becoming 14" with time, I think this could still be acceptable (as most plants in the project could also eventually become large specimens, as Sue already mentioned in another post).
It's a gorgeous paph, easy to grow, easy to bloom and most important: available in Canada, USA and Europe... and not too expensive!
If the size is still a factor for disagreement, then we have Cochleanthes discolor already in the list, even though Orchidwiz says "large clump forming plant, fanlike, 8-14". And everybody who has ever seen a Cochleantes knows what "large clumps" mean: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...lant-list.html

If you feel strongly about it, I guess it can be discussed. The number of people voting with a will make the decision on whether it gets to the list or not.
Same goes for any of the plants...we, as participants, need to use our vote in the best way...it really does count

I would love to do an Angraecum for this project. I haven't had time to make the chats, so I'm just along for the ride on this one. Whatever you guys come up with, I'll grow just the same. I would like to thank everyone for the work put in... ...especially you, Susanne. I've been really busy with work lately, and haven't had the time.

Maybe we should post a thread asking if anyone has dealt with White Oak Orchids?

Thanks Sue, as I said, I think it is a very good plant for the project, and it seems to already have 3 votes (Kavanaru, Camille and Beverly - just reading the posts here, sorry if I misunderstood Beverly and Camille )
I do not think I will be able to join the next chat, but you can add my vote for Paph. henryanum , Angraecum didierii and Phalaenopsis braceana
