The Sophronitis cernua is cool, J & L has it in the US but Paramount in Canada has a hybrid: S cernau x S crispata. I didn't check the EU sites.

Joann, in Europe it is widely available at several vendors.. I am quite surprised that it is not available in Canada at all, as it is a very common and "quite easy" to grow plant...

I know some ofthe Canadian Members in OB have this species, but in the few threads I have checked, they bought it in Ebay..

Has anybody checked for the number of plants available at this vendor? Can Aerangis punctata be added to the list?

I love both the Sophonitis cernua as well as the Aerangis punctata!

Thank you all for looking for all these plants & comming up with the babies!. I'm afraid it's coming up to 'opening 'for tourists/holiday makers in my line of business (13 days to go)so I unfortunately have a lot less time to come on line 'doing' orchid "stuff". Although I really look forward to choosing & growing a plant with you all! (not counting the TC )
Thanks for all the hard work many people are putting into this project!

I just emailed Botanica to see if they had the Aerangis punctata.

I would like to propose again this plant to be discussed during the chat: Paphiopedilum henryanum Paphiopedilum henryanum

I know it has been rejected from a previous project because ofthe size. However, Orchidwiz gives this paph as "may be up to 14" tall with spike, and an overall width of14" leatip to leaftip."

If we see the link given above (slipperorchids.info) this plant is given as rather small. It is actually considered as one of the smallest Paphies, and most plants I have seen (including mine) are not larger than 10" wide and 7" tall (including the flower). For me, Orchidwiz gives the largest size "as up to" but most plants being rather smaller than that. Even in the exceptional extrem case of a plant becoming 14" with time, I think this could still be acceptable (as most plants in the project could also eventually become large specimens, as Sue already mentioned in another post).

It's a gorgeous paph, easy to grow, easy to bloom and most important: available in Canada, USA and Europe... and not too expensive!

If the size is still a factor for disagreement, then we have Cochleanthes discolor already in the list, even though Orchidwiz says "large clump forming plant, fanlike, 8-14". And everybody who has ever seen a Cochleantes knows what "large clumps" mean: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...lant-list.html

I found a couple of project possibilities that I don't think we've discussed. They are all in EU at several vendors.
Cattleya forbesii :IOSPE PHOTOS SBOE, Clouds and Paramount.
Barkeria spectabilis: IOSPE PHOTOS J & L, Andy's and I think Paramount.
Angraecum didieri: IOSPE PHOTOS J & L, Andy's, Paramount.
Phalaenopsis braceana: IOSPE PHOTOS Andy's, Clouds.

I found White Oak on Dave's Garden, but there were no reviews. I was able to find this thread here on orchid board... White Oaks Orchids
I didn't pm for the details, but from the sound of it, we're probably best to stick with the vendors we've already got. Bummer, it sure looked like they had a lot of stuff.
Pacifica is only a couple hours from me, perhaps I'll be able to make a trip out there in time and then I can report back! It wouldn't be before the project though.
