My Warm plant is putting a nubbin out on the newly matured growth but the other spike blasted.

My intermediate plants first bud has opened enough to show color and should open all the way within next two days.
My question is:
Do I post picture(s) here or in the 'spoiler' thread.

In the spoiler thread, Al, and I can't wait to see it! Mine is also starting to look like the tip of the buds are getting ready to open. Gees, almost like having a loved one in labor, huh?

Thanks Kiki, The buds seem to open as slowly as the darn thing grows! Looks like we might be 'parents' at the same time, we'll have to have combined parties for them!

Mine looks like it is actually going to do something too. Sure does develop slowly. It has two buds that I am hoping will open soon. I am trying not to have too many expectations because this guy moves slowly!

I'm with you Quiltingwacko...my intermediate plant is growing its spikes/buds at an agomizingly slow rate....ug!

My spike was growing pretty slow, but I did notice it speed up a little when I increased the light. It is now hanging with my Vandas, and seems to be loving it.

I found the same thing, Jasen

I originally had the intermediate out in the orchid room and it put out one spike and then did nothing.

I moved it into the big tank and it's high up near the lights and it's put out a second spike and they're both growing quickly!

I think more light is the key to this one...

now if I could just figure out the problem with the warm and the cool grower, I'll be happy

The warm grower has done NOTHING...and the cool one has blasted every bud it puts out

Very interesting. I think I may try to increase the light some on my intermediate. My warm plant is pushing three new pseudobulb growths now.

Sue, given my experience so far with the warm guy, he seems to need less light than some in that genus like. And I'm starting to wonder if he doesn't need it quite so warm? He's in the same growing area (my only) as my intermediate plant. And for the most part, I think the highest temp I've seen in the recent past is about 75–77F.
