Yeah! Mine came in yesterday too...along with my 3 TCs. They all look great...nice and healthy...and cute.

Suzanne,
The card is a great idea...I'm glad that you've thought of it.

When we did our very first project, there were just 5 members participating, 4 in the U.S and 1 in Australia. When I sent the card for that...also to Andy's , we actually mailed it to each other for a personal blurb and signature and then the last person mailed it over to Andy's. There's no way we'd be able to get that done now but they still deserve our gratitude

My intermediate has two sad looking leaves just like yours Yvan. Perhaps it will love it here and grow new ones. If I wasn't an optimist, I wouldn't grow orchids. Love the cool one. Have a similar chid already, not mounted though. Never had a mounted orchid before. I soaked them last night as that is what Terri says Ross does. Sounded like a good recommendation to me! Also bought a beautiful Habenaria. Drop dead gorgeous (not as pretty as Roly's Mary Ellen Parker but striking in it's own way.) Picked up a Pleurothallis Rowleii dark, and just had to have a Vanilla Planiflora. Sue has advised me how to grow the Vanilla so I feel ready. (See what I mean about the optimism?) Bought the totem she recommended and the African Violet potting mix. My most dependable healthy always blooming Epidendrum looks awful! That shakes my sunny outlook on orchids! It needed to be repotted but would not quit blooming. It is moving out of it's old pot into new digs today. Terri took a look at it while she was here picking up her mysteries. She advised cutting off all the new growth and applying cinnamon to the wounds. Did that last night. I am going to put it in a brighter spot for light too. The new growth it put on since blooming was black streaked and looked horrid. If I had known it was part Catt I guess I wouldn't have been so complacent about the poor baby. Pictures coming soon. Carol

Carol...I'm not sure those leaves are sad...they are older, and look a bit purple-speckled from light. You know, one of the things that I love about growing orchids, apart from the lessons in optimism and patience, is the lesson of going with the flow. Trying to follow the plant instead of the other way 'round. And a big YAY! YAY! YAY! for you too on your first mounts!! Growing on mounts is really rewarding, and in lots of ways, easier than in pots (to me at least.)

After seeing Carol's "cool" grower I wish I had ordered that one too! It's so cute.

Yvan, thanks for the encouragement on growing with mounts. It's always scared me just a little since I don't have a tank or greenhouse. They will have to just be happy in their little nook that averages about 60% RH in the summer. The up side is you can always tell whats going on with the roots!

Scared me too Terri. No tank yet but have all the stuff, just not together and operating. DH has been busy painting the house. He used to keep poison dart frogs in in the same tank. No green house either. A girl can dream of that. Thanks for the encouragement, Yvan.

I posted pictures in the Project 7 gallery. They're looking much happier after their bath.

I'll bet your summers aren't much hotter than ours. I keep cool loving plants in the north window of our air conditioned home. The AC is set on 73 and as long as it doesn't need real bright light, it works. Our hottest day this summer was 108. This was an unusually cool summer for S. Oregon. Since this window is right over the sink, it is convenient for misting and watering unless they need distilled.
