Sue, I don't know if you had any luck but I couldn't really find Promenaea stapelioides either. SBOE says to inquire about the price. I wonder what that means?

They might have them at different sizes with different pricing...or they have just one or two "select" plants for big $$$...I just emailed them for more info.

I haven't gotten to it on the list yet but if I can't find it or it's over $35, I'm removing it from the project.

Even $35 is pushing the limit, in my eyes...but some people might still be interested at that price.

I don't want anybody to feel bad if the price of the winning plant is out of your comfort zone and you want to leave the project...don't get yourself into trouble with money just to buy a chid Remember, there are also going to be shipping charges.

I made the mistake of not double-checking to confirm availability and am now having some trouble finding a couple of the plants.

For what it's worth, I agree with Sarah. Such as it goes with these things sometimes...

Sue, as for me, I trust your judgement. It you can't find a certain plant(s) at a decent price, pull it.

I agree with that also. Price is a huge factor along with availability. Someone, can't remember who, had concerns about the cost of this project. I think it was said the usual cost of projects runs about $25 plus shipping.
Sue, you have a huge task ahead to locate, try to get discounts, and make this fun for everyone. You are truly a gem to even want to undertake this task. Thanks so much for all your efforts. You make all the executive decisions you need to make. Just know you are appreciated!!!!!

Make whatever executive decisions you need to. We're behind you, all the way. I think the main goal is the mystery orchid. It's not important that it be a costly mystery. I am A-OK with a less expensive mystery, for the record.

And if you find something through talking with the vendors that they have a bunch of & would work for this project, go for it! If the orchid interests you, it will interest us!

I think $35 sounds about right. . .above that it's an investment. Anyone who really really really wants the Bessae can order it as a TC, afterall.
