Shannen, I've been thinking about how we're going to keep the members on that side of the pond in the dark
Any ideas? I have some stuff rumbling around but maybe you have the solution

I can contact the nursery that has the plants and see what they can do for us. If it is somewhere like Schwerter (who we so helpful last time) then I'm sure we can arrange it. Though I am still not sure about Lene, as from what I have checked out, you do need paperwork (phyto and CITES) to send from the EU to Norway (and vice versa...)
Hopefully the plant that is chosen is available in the EU and Norway. I don't know of any Norwegian nurseries, unfortunately...
It will be an interesting problem to solve. If you want to PM me, we can discuss further, so we don't get off-track here.

I've been wondering about it too. Once we narrow the list, the plants have to be checked for at our favorite nurseries, and then maybe Sue sends an email to the chosen one(s) telling them what to send to us once we contact them??? Just an idea. If there had been more EU members participating, then one of us could have organized the EU part. Where's Ramon at by the way? I thought he was interested in this project!
From what I remember, Shwerter has shipping costs around 30€ ( a bit much for me...), but I've never ordered from them. I assume you would know Shannan?
EDIT: according to Schwerter's website, they ship to norway, but more expensive

Shipping depends on which country they are sending to... so I would have to check each of the countries.
Ramon is in Paris and away from a computer for a while, but he is with us in this project, as far as I'm aware. Sue, didn't Ramon check in and say he wanted to participate - but wasn't going to be available for the discussions? Or did I just imagine that (wishful thinking!)?

Shannen... here are a few links for Nurseries in Scandanavia (one is in Norway, but my Norwegian is worse than my non-existent Swedish )
Does Lene know if she is able to receive plants from Sweden/Denmark/Finland w/o having to have paperwork? Anyways, perhaps one of these might be able to point you in the right direction...

This was kind of what I was thinking too. Once you've decided on a vendor, I can send them an email with your names and the plant you need to order. When you place your orders, you tell them it's for the OB Mystery Project.
With things so uncertain about Norway, Lene understands that she might be proceeding with the project without the "mystery" part I wish there were something we could do
Our friend Ramon is in Paris! He's not joining us on this one but has been checking in occasionally
Shannen, I'll PM you and Camille if I think of another way to do it.
LOL...then I have to figure out how I'm gonna get the US vendor to work with us too It will make it so much easier if the chosen plant is available at either Andy's or Oak Hill...they are accustomed to our craziness

Thanks so much Adam! The issue is between Norway (not a member of the EU) and all other EU countries. Although we can treat all EU member states as 'one area' for shipping things like plants, as soon as it crosses a border into a non-EU country, paperwork is required.
It would be the same as sending plants between states in the US versus sending between the US and Canada.
Now, some non-EU countries in Europe (like Switzerland) have agreements which allow things like plants to be sent from EU countries. (So, for example, I sent plants to Ramon.) But Lene is checking on whether this is the case for Norway. I couldn't find anything that said this when I looked.
Fingers crossed!!
PS. I can't believe that Ramon is going to miss out on this one!! But I hope he's enjoying himself in Paris!
