Well, I guess we'll be discussing this for a while
...until you all come around to my way of thinking
|

I really like the idea of choosing for our own temperature range...I don't want the vendors to have to do extra work...and we'll be choosing from at least 5 choices in each poll.
How about if we include hybrids? The polls can be a combination of either, or, or both

Sue I guess that this way everyone will be happy. Let's do 3 polls one for every temperature range and you will include in it 5 or so species and hybrids mixed and then we vote on them without know what's what.

So long as the vendor can provide hybrids .. I say .. include them!
Availability is our main deterrent.

I think I'm missing something here. If you place several plants in a "hopper" by number, what difference does it make? What am I voting for? Is it my favorite number? As several have stated, this is way too complicated. Why not just do the 3 temperature regimes? Let the participator call the vendor we go for and say "I want the project plant to be warm" (or whatever). Then when the vendor supplies the plant you (or whomever) gets the tag, then we go from there. How simple!

True, you've got a point there. Some growers only have species and a small amount of hybrids. I guess that the best thing would be to look at prospective vendors and see what they've got and that we can work with.

This is getting way out of control and it's only the first day
I find no fun in the idea of calling a vendor and saying "send me a warm grower"
Ross, the poll would consist of just numbers...pick one and I will know what plant that number was assigned to...really simple

Once again i'm with you Sue on this one. We pick a number from each of the categories and the winning number would be the one plant that we will be working with. So we end up with 1 plant from each of the temperature range. Now as far as ording the plant I would say try to find different vendors Sue and that way the vendors won't have to be dealing with ohh I want a warm or ohhh I want a cool grower. For example; Oak Hills = Cool grower, Andy's = intermediate and Hausermann = Warm. I think that that ways things get simplified.

I still don't get it. Guess it's just me. So I vote for my favorite number?

Yes Ross !!!! Let's say each number represents a plant that only Sue knows; the number with most votes would be the mistery plant for that specific temperature range.
