Sad to hear that... Another great breeding nursery gone for good. I discovered during the covid years that they did pre-orders of plants to ship out of a show in Europe. However once shows and traveling picked up again after covid, I never got around to doing a pre-order.

It is sad. If you are looking for Paphs specifically, I think I heard that Tim Culbertson took at lot of their stock.

I would love an excuse to "have" to buy another paph. Everyone should have at least a half dozen in their care. There are many primary species crosses. I would also love an excuse to get another phrag... but most of them aren't what I would call a compact plant.

Or rolling with a Potinara... Just because I don't have any.

SVO has some primary paph hybrids that look interesting. Paphs are new to me, so this will be a learning experience....again.

Paph delenatii crosses seem to be the easiest to find, but let's see if we can find some other options too. Paph henryanum maybe?


Though if we could go the phrag route and pick Phrag longifolium, which is very compact.

I'll gladly roll with paphs. How about just doing a Paph species x Paph species cross without specifying which species? That way folks aren't as limited appearance-wise, but hopefully will encourage those who aren't growing them to dip a toe in the water? And overall, phrags aren't as easy to source everywhere as are paphs... and usually more expensive.

I'm trying to stay on the small side. I don't have a lot of room for large plants at this point. I'm leaning toward a P. philippenense cross. But you guys decide and I'll see what I can do.

To be honest about it, I've been avoiding the genus. I acquired a Paph. fairreanum seedling that is still quite small but surviving, but that is it. Since that one is a cool grower it isn't in the tent. A warm to hot grower would fit the tent conditions well. And it will go into s/h as soon as I get it. The seedling is in small bark mix with some sphag. Came that way. I didn't want to change it.

I'd be game to do a Paph primary hybrid project. I have two already in my collection - Ho Chi Minh (delanatii x vietnamense) and Donvischilum (concolor x leucochilum). The Ho Chi Minh has already bloomed for me two years running, so I would not consider it the project plant; although, I can post photos if people are interested. I've only had the Donvischilum for a short time and have not yet bloomed it, so it might fit the bill.
