i am going to be entereing with my l bicolor i got from marlows last year- it has been on a shady to bright rack and done next to nothing sine i acquired it - i hope looking at the other setups will help me

I'm going to give this a try. I have a Lpt. unicolor that I got last week from Tarzane group and Lpt. pohlitinocoi I got yesterday from Andy's.

Tarzane group is still selling mounted Leptotes unicolor and Andy's might still have pohlitinocoi even though not listed on his website. You'll have to call him to check on that.

Here's the recently gifted one to me. Came in spike, wrapped up like a pro, that bloomed about a week later. This photo of it was taken a couple of days ago. Thought I had time to procrastinate taking the photo... they don't hold their blooms as long as anticipated, and I missed the shot, but you get the idea.

It's mounted, hanging now in an area along with some Tolumnia, and is auto-misted three times a day. Once a week, run some K-Lite over it while I'm watering. On rack in south facing window, LED lights overhead. It will be interesting to see if it survives my culture (I'm not usually good with such small orchids). Goals are

• Don't kill it
• Don't let dogs eat it
• Get it to bloom next spring with a minimum of four blooms (equal to how it arrived)

Hi everyone! This is my Leptotes bicolor, mounted on a kool log/olla. This small cutting broke off when a friend of mine was repotting a large clump about a month and a half ago, and since then it grew 5 flower buds and only started putting out roots in the last 2 weeks. I never had a Leptotes and I'm quite surprised at how fast it grew, as it has little to no roots and yet the leaves have not wrinkled one bit.

I've been keeping the kool log full with distilled water (I've occasionally let it dry for a day whenever I forgot to refill) and spraying the roots with rain mix (MSU) at least daily at half strength. It's exposed to full sun, through a window, from about 4pm to sunset.

Humidity is about 50% and temperatures range between 18°C and 23°C (64.4°F to 73.4°F).

I can't wait for the flowers!

well its done. a nice set of growing root tips and hopefully we will still be able to provide an update in a year!

a bit of a deviation from the norm tho, as awhile back i mistakenly ordered 3 bags of fine leca instead of the usual large pellets. lots of dust in this stuff and it took awhile to clean, but i think it should suit. let's go leptotes!!

I have two from Hausermann's. I potted one in a small tea cup with NZ sphagnum moss and the other is, for now, mounted.

I am really excited about this project as this is an orchid I really like and wish to learn to grow well.

I was thinking about ordering from Hausermann but those are tiny, aren't they?

Hausermann's advises to give them two to three years before expecting blooms. I might order another type of Leptotes from somewhere else as I really do like these little orchids.

I think that in the "research phase" it was determined that Andy's Orchids has plenty of Lpt. bicolor ... his plants are usually well established. Absence of the plant on the website means nothing... email and ask, the website has only a small fraction of the plants available.
