Actually, there is an English version of the Popow website... but it is incomplete and some things don't work properly... When I did have the opportunity to buy from him, I used Google Translate on the German version anyway (when needed... pretty much, plant names are Latin and prices are numeric so it doesn't really matter)

having plants in quarantine is no fun! i don’t get to look at them as much!

anyway, what do you guys think we should do with the ones we got? ive already taken one for s/h, and have acquired a fun little container im gonna drill and repot this weekend. not the one with spikes, the “lesser” of the two. so really the question is, what do you all think we should do with the one with spikes? repot now in our preferred mix of bark, leca, and a bit of sphag? wait while till it’s done blooming (if it continues to) and then in trad media? mount now? mount after bloom?

i personally am inclined now to always repot on delivery of orchids, almost regardless of stage. but, hey, what would you do??

edited to include pics of putting the one in s/h. i just decided to do it tonight since i was thinking about these. i cut more roots than i wanted, but hopefully it’ll take. some new growth is evident.

Sii, sii... Google traduce todo :-) but in general when you Google Search = keywords in English or Spanish and the host website is not SEO register (search optimize) in those lenguage it doesn't come out in the results, that's a regular or general rule for any website, right?. But on top of that, Popow don't even have keywords optimization in it's own lenguage; German. Therefore, if I look from Spain "Orchideen Online-Verkauf" (Orchids Online Sales) all the other German, Dutch and Swiss vendors show up in 1st and 2nd page result but he doesn't at all, so for me was unknown since I haven't been in any show, I basically use Google and this forum to find orchid sources.

Oh well my Plant has developed some sort of fungus or bacteria, I think. It came from the nursery with 2 very damage, yellowish, deshidratated leaf, but now it has a dark stain, however is not black it is actually purple; not like the purple that indicates the flowers color, and these spots are new, 2-3 days max.

I have had only 1 sick orchid in my life, so I don't really understand when they're ill or what's going on. The roots looks fine, the plant is developing well as a matter of fact.

Anyone knows or recognize what's happening ?

I would wonder about sunburn, spider mites, physical damage (being crushed accidentally) and then perhaps an older leaf naturally dying.

i think it is normal aging...things get to plants and they fight and win and fight and lose...these leaves just look like something ( like ES suggested) got to them and stressed them

Ok, thank you ES & DC, I think you right, looks like old or tired leaves, definitely those 2 leaves have suffering lately. And on top of everything, we have had such a flash warm week. I am going to pampering her a little to see if gets better.

For those of you thinking of joining us, I see Orchids by Hausermann has mounted seedlings of Kingidium philippinense [sic] for $12 plus shipping.

According to IOSPE Kingidium philippinensis is a synonym of Phal. deliciosa.

I just checked on Kew and it is more specifically synonymous with P. deliciosa ssp. deliciosa. (Also, "philippinense" is right, since it's got to agree with Kingidium, which is neuter... good old Latin. )

So, I had a few minutes this morning and gathered together some material to get ready to mount my project plant and lo and behold what do I see?....... but a spike beginning to form right down at the bottom right of the plant!

Obviously at this point it's staying in the sphag. pot. It will be fine in the sphag. here under lights in the basement but the mounting can wait until I get it to Florida now.

Am I the first?
