Yes the mounting or basket would be a definite consideration, could be interesting if we are all growing it in a different way. Seems pretty forgiving as far as care. I was sweating a bit to see paph and phrag on the original list... I’ll have to get over my past experiences/ guilt with slippers at some point.

Anyways I’m thrilled with any choice as an exercise in collaborative experience with a species.

T. kotoense looks a bit like Phalaenopsis/Sedirea japonica – so cute! Looks like it's intermediate to warm, but supposedly it can be grown both as a windowsill plant and as a mounted plant, which is a relief.

From current list Dendrobium unicum is standing out, easy, temperature tolerant, highly available at reasonable price.

For sure! Even if that one doesn't get chosen I'll probably order it at some point lol. Seems like it's a pretty popular plant and for good reason!

I really like it, but it's such a shame that it's difficult to source! Maybe some of you in the US can check other vendors you know of?

I'm not finding any Camille.
It's showing as "out of stock" everywhere it has been available in the past.

There are five left at Brookside Orchids (Tuberolabium kotoense NFS Mounted), which is not enough for everyone who has signed up for this project. But if you're interested, you could still snag it... If I recall correctly, DC has ordered from them before and I think he said the packaging was great.

Oh actually, I also found it on a place called Sophie's Orchids (those might be seedlings??); don't know if anyone here has ordered from them before...

I've ordered from Sophies orchids once (ebay user Shawnlund1). It was a phalaenopsis schilleriana and it seemed blooming size, nicely packed. No issue with shipping that I detected. They don't seem to put very much detail in plant descriptions but he responds decently fast if you ask a question

Top 3 for me:
Bulbophyllum lobbii
Phalaenopsis (any are good, but I kinda like bastiani)
Ascocentrum (either)
