Ramon...wonderful job!!! I know what you mean about getting the moss to stay put... It's not as easy as it would seem
Joanna, thank you so much for letting us see your gorgeous japonica! Absolutley stunning...and your words of wisdom are always appreciated
Royal,
All it takes is one delivery from Oak Hill to add another fan to their list of many
Great plants...you got two of my faves there! C aurantiaca and Phal equestris are both

Ramon! Cool! This is when it's A-Okay to make mountain out of a molehill. he he he
NWO uses some sort of string with little back and forth curves of green threads. . .so it's discreet but actually has the holding power of a 1/8" thread since it's flat and kind of spreads out.
We all need a ball of that stuff!

Ramón, I am really impressed! What a fantastic post detailing what you did with you plant - and the result - beautiful! An inspiration!
I found that when I used the bottle to wrap the sphag around, I was able to exert quite a lot of pressure, which helped the moss hold together. I also found that wet moss sticks better to dry moss, so I did mine in layers and let each layer dry out before adding the next.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the kind messages
hhmmm, Shakkai... maybe that's the trick on it... I will try letting each layer to dry out before adding the next
...but really, it was not as easy as it looks like anyway, it is worth the try. My only objection to my final result is that the moss mountain happened to be too big for the pott, but it is also the result of trying to keep the moss attached...

How do these plant projects work?
Is there a plant project forum I can't find? Is there a general sticky explaining the process? I was traveling last month and seemed to miss the opportunity to participate.
Cheers.

Hi Jim
We've been discussing how much we were looking forward to our Spring Project since the beginning of winter
We usually put together a project every 4 months or so, it seems...this one turned into a double-project!
Take a look through the Contests & Polls Forum and you'll see lots of threads detailing all of our previous projects.
Here's a link to help get you started in the right direction:

Please try to join us for our next one...I'm sure it's not at all that far down the road

it occured to me today while I was crawling around under a horse tacking on some shoes that I forgot to post pics of my sedierea and its buddies when i got them last week. Yes, I should have been paying attention to where my nails were going and where the hammer was falling (thankfully not on a thumb). But since joining the orchid board it has taken my addiction to whole new heights. so here are my pics. The first being my little baby Sedierea, the next one being a Haraella retrocalla and a Isochilus linearis. hope my spellings are correct. Im so pooped from work Im lucky that I can spell 'work' w-o-r-k? right?
