Shams, a very nice plant I only see that the leaves look a bit stressed (almost leathery), and the sphag a bit too dry. I found that my two Sedireas growing in Sphag like it very wet. I keep the sphag very wet, let it dry and next day again very wet... they seem to love it...

Niki, I'm amazed at the size of those flowers - especially compared to the plant!! They're huge by comparison! What a spectacular show that's going to be! I think 3 flowers is just about right - any more and the poor thing would look like its going to topple over with the weight!

Great growing - nice roots!!

Thanks Shannan! I know right? It's so small! I can see the bars of purple through the bud now. I'm getting giddy with anticipation!

Hi Shams, I couldn't help notice you saying you would be dunking them at night? In everything I've ever read or been told, night watering is an absolute no-no.

Not really. This is based on a plant (any plant, especially roses) not sitting wet overnight. As long as the leaves aren't wet and out of a breeze, what's wrong with night watering If the plant is sitting high in sphagnum, only the roots should be exposed so it's kinda like "it rained at night". Guess I'm getting more and more like Ray and questioning the "accepted lore" of orchid growing based on my own experiences. Since I didn't get a chance to water my Sederias this morning, I'm off to do it now!

Well, my computer has been down for a few weeks, but here is my blooming Sedirea.....finally! It blasted a bud or two from shipping, but the rest of the spike made it! The flowers are fading now, but I managed to pollinate one, so there will be babies....PROJECT SIX OFFSPRING!!!!
