Just a quick question, but are we supposed to post pics of our project plants when they bloom? I put one up earlier this week with my other bloomers. This and the sederia are my first projects.

Well, its been a month since my last photo. Last month I thought a new fan was emerging but now I wonder if that is what it is.

I find it hard to believe I have a project plant that does something rather that just sit there.

I wouldn't kid about something like that... that would just be cruel! LOL!

From what I've seen here, if it was a new growth, one leaf would start to elongate and grow out after the first, or at most second, pair of leaflets. It looks like your's has 3 pairs of leaflets, and none have started growing out into a proper leaf. So, my vote is for a flower spike.

You should be seeing the little buds start to poke out of the top sometime soon and you can be absolutely certain then.

Hey Paul,
That is gorgeous! If I only have one spike with one bloom I'll be happy!
Is this your project plant?

Paul.

I may just have to go and order a Amami Furan. Yours is sooooo beautiful. How many growths were on the plant when you bought it? I sure wish my plants looked that good.

Yeah, this was my 'project plant'. I ordered a Amami Island with 3 growths. It came with 4 growths and was labeled Amami Furan. Not sure if there was another name for the one I ordered, I gave New Worlds a call and they said that it must have been a mistake when the order was packed. Whoever had packed it had just seen the Amami part and boxed it up. They offered to exchange it or send me the one I wanted at a very reasonable price. So long as I knew what it was I didn't really care. So when I finally got around to repotting it (i wasn't as creative as some, its in teracotta) I found that the extra growth on the plant was in fact a whole other Neo. So I have a single growth and a 3 growth which are both my "project plant". I also ordered a Shu Ten Nou that has cherry colored blooms that also had an extra plant potted up with it. But these are just babies yet, probably won't see blooms from them til next year.
