Sorry...I've just been so spaced out lately, I've missed a lot of what's been happening here!

Gwen, I got the Benisuzume and the blooms will be pink when they finally get here
Here's the picture of it from New World's web site:

It has two new fans at this point

It's probably gonna be a WWW Pottery Throw Down as everyone scrambles to purchase their pots! So pull on your tights and fling your gold capes on and be there or be square.

Shannan is sweating bullets. Marilyn is checking the website, morning, noon and night. Susanne & Lauren are cohorting secretly behind the scenes, working to rack up free shipping! Fingers now poised above the BUY IT NOW button!

Stayed tuned!

It took me a week of refining my list to get it down to four I couldn't live without...then Laura emailed Vic for a suggestion about a particular plant of hers and he told her to wait till the new stuff comes out...

...so, my work-intensive list isn't as solid as I thought

Sue, that's cool... I also bought a Benisuzume that should arrive in June (together with an Ogonmaru- Yellow blooms and apparently extremely fragrant) and make company to the AmamiX sib and the Suikaden (bought as Hisui in Thun, but according to Glenn it is not Hisui but most probably Suikaden.. let's wait!)... This way I would have white, pink, yellow & green.. still missing a variegated one!

Kavanaru: Yep, Vic said he was going to make our own section in the catalog. . .FOR. . .orchid pots!

P.S. AND. . drumroll, please. . .Vic is going to make us three pots especially for our Awesome Blossom prizes.

Teee heee. Muha ha ha ha. Yeah! And THANK YOU, Vic!
Seeing as some members won't get theirs till June, we should wait till August so they have some time to play and rearrange stuff the way the rest of us have

How cool to get our own section in Erin Pottery's catalog! Way cool!!!

I can't wait to see the prizes alotted for this project.
We're going to have to figure out how to go about the voting...I'll start working on it and if anybody has suggestions, please feel free to suggest them to me

August 1st sounds good! And that will give Vic a little extra time too, to make the three awesome pots!

Erin Pottery is soooo wonderful! I am so grateful for their participation in our project! They've been so supportive of our project and so willing to join in the fun.

Shannan is thinking this over too, today. . .mulling while she is out working in her garden.

We definitely need for all the pictures to be landscape format in case Marty wants to use them for a calender or on stuff to sell in his Forum Support Store. Maybe check with him to see if he has any preferences or specs that we need to keep in mind?

And we want to have all the photos submitted anonymously, along with a poll so everyone involved in the project can vote on the photos.

Shannan mentioned having various categories to be awarded. . .not sure what they should be: Best Photo (1st, 2nd and 3rd) Most creative presentation? Best theme?

And we'll need everyone to submit their specific project plant here soon too.

Just a few thoughts. . .for now.

Sounds like you've given it some thought

Maybe we'll talk to Marty about having the photos submitted like they are when the Calendar Contest is going on. I know he's very busy and I don't want to give him a lot of extra work but maybe we can work something out...

Yoo-hoooo...Oh Maaaarty...

To be honest, I haven't! All I can think about are our orchids, the pots, the photos and the prizes.

I was gonna leave all the voting details up to you guys, ur. . .actually.

Probably ougt to go mention that to Shannen too.

But let me know what I can do to help out.

Sue & All

Had a quick exchange of ideas with Gwen, and here is what I was thinking....

We would have the general photo contest - Awesome Blossom - where all OB Members could vote, as originally planned at the start of the project. It would be nice to do it in the same format as Marty does the calendar contest. If Marty doesn't have enough time, I'd be happy to coordinate and post the photos in a poll. The top 3 photos with the most votes would get the prizes from New World Orchids. The 1st place winner would get to choose which one they wanted.

Then, I thought we could do three themed polls (only votes from people participating in the project) where the winner of each theme gets one of the Erin Pottery pots.

I am still completely bowled over that Gwen has single-handedly got us six prizes for this project!!

Here are the themes that I think could work:

Best in Bloom
Most Creative
Samurai Award (for best Japanese themed photo)

I also thought that, to be fair, the photos for the general contest and the theme contests should be different. It can be the same plant, but different photos.

People could enter just the main one, or any combination, or all of them, if they wanted.

As for deadlines, whatever you think is best. August 1st suits me, as I'm not going to pick up my Neos until June 8th. But I could also do July 1st if we want to be quicker.

What does everyone think?

I like August 1st better! I have to leave for Germany on July 2nd, and will have a bijillion things to do before I go (especially since I'll be taking Benny with me) But I'm back on the 19th, so.... August 1st is a good time for me
