Thank you so much I appreciate the time you take to respond to my orchid insecurity. The new growth has grown before my eyes. If anyone that is reading this thread could possibly post photo on a new pseudo bulb photo from a zygo hybrid please do. Do ocidium hybrids grow new pseudo bulbs in the same way? I really try to keep my posts species specific so I apologize. Thank you—-B

Thank you Keith I appreciate the time you take to respond to my orchid cries for help. The new growth is really looking like what you said a new pseudo bulb. I was hoping it was a flower spike lol. Don’t tell my other orchids but my zygo hybrid is truly my favorite the blooms are gorgeous and smell amazing. I hope that I can get her to rebloom. I apologize in advance. I know that the board likes to keep species specific. Do ocidiums grow there new pseudo bulbs in the same fashion as the zygo? Thanks again—-B

Yours has overtaken mine, birdbrain. Its leaves are just beginning to unfold. I have an Oncidium hybrid, a Bratonia and a Nelly Isler that are all producing new growths. The Bratonia is most like the Zygopetalum. The others are similar but open leaves earlier.

Keithj. How exciting huh. I’m learning so much about orchids that don’t belong in the phal group. Don’t get me wrong I love my phals (5) definitely different “how to care for” than phals. She has grown so much in height too.

I have ended up with a very varied collection because I’ve not got the experience to even want to specialise. I have 27 orchids altogether and that’s a small enough collection that I can easily cast an eye over every one every day. So far I haven’t lost many since I started and those I have now appear to be doing well but this will be my first winter with most of them so the learning curve will steepen shortly.

Fun, isn’t it?

Keith

Thank you Keith I appreciate you feedback. I’m going to try to upload a new pic. The growth of my zygo amazes me. I check my orchids daily sometimes more than just once. They bring me much joy i find them a bit of a challenge compared to my normal everyday house plants.

Hi y’all 🤗 I’ve got to post a new photo of my zygo. I’m a proud zygo mamma. The new pseudo bulb has more than quadrupled in size. But what this photo is about is a pseudo bulb is to me text book perfect plump bulb. No wrinkles unlike me. Thanks y’all that took the time to read this——-B

Here’s photo of the new pseudobulb on my Zygopetalum ‘Sensations’. I wasn’t expecting it to flower yet but I think the emerging growth is a spike - it’s growing very quickly. Considering thatwhen this orchid was bought from a garden centre a couple of months ago it was bone dry and the pseudobulbs were wrinkled I think it’s recovered remarkably well.
