finally got this cute little cross to bloom for me!!! its a first generation cross between Kefersteinia tolimensis and Bollea equadoriana created by Jim Marlow of Marlows orchids. I was expecting a bit more pink but its a cutie none the less
A cutie, indeed
Oh I likey that one!
What conditions do you have it in?
I have a Kefersteinia species I am finding a bit difficult to bloom .. it's in it's growth cycle now but I kept blasting the buds last year .. I believe I need to keep it drier than I had ..
I love bolleas also
the bolleas have quickly become one of my favs . I kept this little one in low to medium light, about 70% humidity, with intermediate-warm temps, and two good soakings a week. I was a little worried that I wasnt keeping it wet enough becuase it is in a clay pot with hydroton and wine corks. guess the little guy is happy cuz ive got some more buds coming.
Wine corks, huh??? Very interesting, I didn't think of those as a possible potting medium. There's a wine bar just down the walk from my office, I think I'll look into that!
Neat plant. You can see characteristics of both parents in the flower.
I don't know why ecuadorana and violacea are always the parent Bolleas for intergeneric crosses. It'd be cool to see something with B. lawrenceana or B. coelestis for a change.
