Zygopetalum won't grow roots?

So I thought I would give you all an update! This little guy now has a total of seven new growths, some of which look more likely to amount to anything than others. The biggest three I'm pretty sure will develop fully but I don't know about the rest. The two best (1+2) it is hard to see whether they have any roots as they are lower in the moss and I don't want to disturb anything, but the next best one (4) has three little root tips that I can see! The little nubbins on the previous growth are looking pretty small and not growing super fast, but they may yet root and develop. The biggest three growths are all over an inch long now which is great! Will keep you posted on the root situation.

Mine has been on this stage on what seems like forever. He has about three growths and no roots yet. He’s a Zygolum so I’m not even sure what their growth pattern should be.

I find this interesting and typical of orchid growing. My huge Zygo "Advance Australia" is in a clay pot with a moss mix, heavy on the moss. I water it daily from the top and it is always damp. A fan blows almost directly on it, the humidity ranges from 50 to 70%. It grows like crazy and blooms a couple of times a year. BelleaOrquidea and I live 100 miles apart, yet how different we grow successfully.

See, mine hates being damp in fact it starts to grow a white fungus. I grow it inside next to or in between a north and east window. My windows are, tinted. (Though I’m not sure if that’s the right term. What I mean is that they bloom the heat but let the light in) so I’m thinking that helps this guy a lot. He has a lot of foliage and top heavy. I have him in a semi terrestrial media and that’s how he was when I purchased him. The temp inside is 72-74 in the day and 70 at night. I water him once a week and fertilize twice a month. this guy and pretty much all my orchids have suffered from mealybugs and I’ve treated them and it’s under control now. I haven’t seen any adult ones since my last treatment back in May and when I do see crawlers I spot treat with alcohol isopropyl.
Hopefully he decides to focus on growing and grow those roots and flower for me. I’m a big big fan of hyacinth’s fragrance and also lilacs.
